Let’s continue with Philippians 2 verse 8-11, “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

In light of this, how should we as Christians act and react to a world obsessed with self and appearance? I think it’s easy to know. Wherever we place our value and attention, that will determine how impactful we will be for God and His Kingdom.

Treasure Hunt

The Bible, furthermore, tells us, in Red Letters, I might add, in Matthew Chapter 6 verse 21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

If this is true, and it is true, because it came from the Very One who is Truth, where then, should believers place their focus? Should it be on the outward man? Should it be on worldly things?

Did you know there won’t be a single person getting into Heaven because they are beautiful on the outside? The only way to enter God’s Kingdom is to be beautiful on the inside, filled with the Spirit of God, given a new heart and the mind of Christ. So, I pose this question again; Where should our focus be?

Right now, the world is obsessed with looks, living longer, and puffing themselves up to promote their image. May this not be true in the Church. But, as you look around at some of the leaders in various “Christian” movements with their own obsession with plastic surgery, looks, and promoting themselves, frankly, it’s just nauseating. I seriously just want to puke when I see some of the things that people are doing in the name of Jesus. It probably makes you sick too. But, if it makes us sick to see this happen, how do you think God sees that kind of thing? Well, we know exactly how He feels about it.

Isaiah 2:12 says, “For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every onthat is lifted up; and he shall be brought low.”
